What Is It?
Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of plant oil’s and is an art that has been practised for centuries. This ancient art of healing uses oils that have been extracted from leaves, bark, roots, seeds and resins.

Why does it work?
The extracts are believed to be the ‘life- force’ of the plant. Physically the essential oils are of a small molecular size and can be absorbed by the skin and then are transported into the bloodstream and lymphatic system to be circulated around the body. The essential oils are very powerful and only need to be used in small quantities.

What can it treat?
It can treat a wide range of ailments, stress and emotional upsets. They have the ability to work on us, both mentally and physically. Mentally, the oils have a direct effect on the brain (Limbic System) through inhalation.
Treatment consists or a detailed case history to look at the person as a whole and decide on a unique formula for the individual person. This blend is then applied to the body with a light massage technique (lighter than Swedish massage) to aid the penetration of the oils. Treatment last approximately one hour, giving you the chance to breathe in the wonderful aromas.
